Organizational Effectiveness and Efficiency
Directly supported public entities in planning and implementing strategic initiatives, resulting in those entities being awarded more than $16 million in public funding via grants to sustain and scale impact.
Developed a data infrastructure framework, client acquisition toolkit and quality control diagnostic to ensure a 30+ FTE nonprofit was poised for continued success and expansion heading into the second decade of their operation.
Designed a new organizational operating structure and associated tools and frameworks (i.e., bylaws) for an anti-hunger coalition, following a strategic visioning process resulting in a new vision and mission, organizational goals and key performance indicators.
Created the Excellence in Summer Meals Campaign, a best-practice evaluation model for federal programming, earning the Innovation Award from the Texas Department of Agriculture.
Strategic Planning
Leading a large, urban school district in Wisconsin in developing a new five-year strategic plan, bringing together the senior leadership of the school district alongside community stakeholders to re-envision the district’s vision, mission, core values and strategic priorities, while creating measurable, time-bound goals and performance metrics to monitor progress along the way.
Provided capacity and strategic guidance on the development of an impactful grant-making strategy focused on public health and education, for a global foundation with assets exceeding $1B.
Development and facilitation of an annual multi-day staff retreat for a Texas-based philanthropic foundation with assets of over $800M, focusing on the development of a revised theory of change and theory of action, analysis of how current and prospective gifts align to the core values of the foundation, and identifying where the foundation wants to have future impact.
Executive Coaching and Change Management
Supported an emerging nonprofit organization in Southwest Colorado in operationalizing an inaugural strategic plan, working to ensure the organization was equipped with the operating structure, tools, processes, and internal systems required to be successful.
At the request of the Texas Education Agency, developed the capacity of Education Service Centers on building the organizational resources to support school districts and design/implement critical state-aligned initiatives to improve outcomes for students.
Advises and coaches systems leaders and their executive teams on effectively designing and implementing strategic initiatives and developing “high performance” cultures throughout the organizational chart.
Human Capital Systems and Talent Management
Supporting 50+ districts in Texas, collectively enrolling more than 1.2 million students, on macro-level systems change initiatives, focusing on identifying and rewarding top talent based on objective and aligned measures.
Played a key leadership role in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Dallas ISD’s innovative pay for performance appraisal system, resulting in significant academic gains for the 155,000 students in Dallas ISD.
Developed (with colleagues) and scaled as a state technical assistance provider a strategic staffing, school turnaround initiative to 13 districts across Texas, collectively impacting more than 30,000 students, 92% of which are no longer attending a failing school.
Program Development, Implementation and Continuous Improvement
Supported a local WIC agency in a county of 2.6 million residents in developing a community-based, human-centered design sprint, resulting in the creation of a playbook to improve client experience and benefit access. Additionally, directed the implementation of critical strategies alongside agency leadership.
Envisioned, developed and launched “Trust Her,” an initiative to bring all methods of contraceptive access to all women. This model self-sustains on both public and private funds and has now been embedded within the healthcare system, ranging from small, family practice clinics, to one of the largest public hospital systems in the country, offering a same-day access protocol where women receive their method of choice without being required to return for a second visit. To date, Trust Her has been endowed with nearly $10M in the last year alone through private philanthropy.
Directed the implementation of a $2M grant tasked with increasing the food security of Texas children. Designed and led strategies resulting in local school districts increasing breakfast and supper participation by more than 100,000 kids daily within a single school year.
Public Policy
Represented a Fortune 300 company at public government hearings and local municipality meetings, resulting in a 100% “win-record” on critical votes, generating $272M in projected revenue.
Developed legislative agendas and public policy priorities for one of the largest minority Chamber’s of Commerce in the country, driving municipal, state, and federal advocacy efforts.
Former senior staff member of a Texas State Representative; handling policy analysis, committee work and briefing reports.
